Supported accommodation for Looked-after Children and Care Leavers
Our service was founded with a clear purpose: to provide tailored, person-centred accommodation and support that responds to the unique needs of vulnerable young people. Through targeted interventions and sustainable support, we create safe and nurturing environments that empower young people to build confidence, develop essential life skills, and achieve greater independence.
We support a diverse range of young people, including:
- Looked-after children aged 16–17 years
- Care leavers transitioning into adult life
- Young people preparing to live independently
- Young people who require support to establish positive routines and develop skills related to education, employment, and everyday living
- Young people who have experienced trauma, instability, homelessness, family breakdown, or placement disruption
- Young people transitioning from residential homes, secure settings, foster care, or other supported accommodation
- Young people requiring carefully planned transitions or, where appropriate, emergency placements

Tailored Support for Independent Living
Every young person at Hamlet Abbey receives a personalised Support Plan that reflects their individual strengths, aspirations and support needs. Our person-centred approach is designed to promote safety, build confidence, develop independence and equip young people with the practical skills they need to achieve a positive and successful future.
Our dedicated team provides guidance and encouragement across all aspects of daily living, including:
- Preparing healthy, nutritious meals and developing positive eating habits
- Budgeting, shopping and managing personal finances
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised home environment
- Developing personal care, hygiene and self-care routines
- Building confidence when travelling independently and using public transport
- Learning tenancy responsibilities and independent living skills
- Registering with GPs, dentists and other essential health and community services
- Accessing education, training, employment and volunteering opportunities
- Establishing positive daily routines, organisation and time management skills
- Strengthening emotional resilience, wellbeing and healthy coping strategies
Our goal is to empower every young person to make informed decisions, develop resilience and confidence, and build the skills needed to live independently and participate positively within their communities. By providing consistent support, encouragement and opportunities for growth, we help young people move towards adulthood with confidence, stability and a strong foundation for long-term success.
Hamlet Abbey LTD is experienced with working with young people who have extreme challenging and risky behaviour; their support plan will reflect the needs of the young persons and will offer the following:
Empowerment
- Support to develop retrospective thinking
- Offending reduction programmes in partnership with YOT and other agencies
- Support with reducing substance or alcohol abuse
- Work around young people suffering with post- traumatic stress disorder
- Support with asylum applications and other legal matters
- Support for young parents
Intensive Support
- Family work
- Support with managing ADHD, including anger management, and temper control disorder Gang awareness and intervention
- Support with reducing risky behaviour that could lead to exploitation
Risk Management
Through well-structured Risk Assessments, Individual Care Plans, motivated and skilled staff our aim is to ensure that independence and fulfilment are maximised for the vulnerable young people we work with.
